It all started during a journey home to Newfoundland. On what was only their second date, Kristin brought her future wife to meet her father. During a surprise layover in Halifax, they discovered Fundy Gin at Liquid Assets.

The moment the bottle was opened, the aroma instantly transported Kristin to a summer day in Twillingate- with craggy coastlines, icebergs and whales coming to shore and the smells of the deep sea and lupins blowing in the wind.

They brought as much Fundy Gin on the journey as possible. Kristin and Kate fell in love over martinis, and continued doing so until one day decided to import legally to share the experience.

When first contacting Still Fired Distilleries about the prospect of importing Fundy Gin, they respectfully declined and were not interested in exporting. Kristin continued to explore the market, but nothing could compare.

After relentless persistence, Kristin tapped Andrew on the shoulder at a local farmer’s market in Halifax where his response was “your crazy lady, but I will make you a pallet”

This was the beginning of Northern Rose Selections – focused on importing fine craft spirits (and now wine!) from Canada, to share with a community that appreciates exceptional tastes.
